V2Mac 0.5.3
What’s changed
- Add China and Russia to the regions that can bypass the proxy
- Show how much traffic this session used, and keep a total
- This session’s traffic appears next to the speeds in the menu bar panel and the connection bar
- Click it to see download and upload for the session and the total since it was last reset
- Turn it off in Settings → General → Count traffic usage
- Make updating through Homebrew more reliable
- Only the copy in Applications is updated through Homebrew; another copy updates itself as before
- Update Now no longer says to try again later when Homebrew already offers a newer version
- A Homebrew call that hangs is stopped after 10 minutes instead of blocking Update Now
- A failed Homebrew upgrade is reported in a notification with the reason
- Proxy passwords with non-English letters work for Homebrew downloads
- Keep the app responsive while the core writes many log lines
- Log lines are added to the Logs window in batches a few times a second instead of one by one
- Updating the core or the app no longer ties up a thread while a tool runs
- Install an update only when it carries the V2Mac project’s signature
- Each release DMG is now signed with the project’s own key, and Update Now refuses one that is not
- Run nothing as root in TUN mode that another program could have changed
- The TUN helper and its config are passed straight to the administrator prompt instead of through files
- The core copy that runs as root is checked against the one V2Mac hashed before asking
- Keep other devices on the network away from this Mac’s own services
- With LAN access on, the proxy no longer connects to addresses on this Mac (127.0.0.1, localhost)
- Full configs from a subscription can no longer open their own control port for the core
Install
With Homebrew: brew install --cask lordversa/tap/v2mac (or brew upgrade --cask v2mac).
Or download V2Mac-0.5.3.dmg, check it against the .sha256 file, and follow the first-launch steps in the README (the app is ad-hoc signed).
