v2rayN for Mac, and V2Mac
v2rayN is a good, active project, and it runs on macOS. V2Mac is built for one platform only. Here is how to choose.
| V2Mac | v2rayN | |
|---|---|---|
| Runs on | macOS 26+, Apple Silicon | Windows, Linux, macOS (Intel and Apple Silicon) |
| Cores | Xray-core | Xray, sing-box and others |
| Interface | Native SwiftUI, in the menu bar | Cross-platform desktop app |
| Apps in their own VM and server | Yes, Secure Sandbox (beta) | No |
| License | GPL-3.0 | GPL-3.0 |
Pick v2rayN if
- You have an Intel Mac, or a macOS older than 26. V2Mac won’t run there.
- You want sing-box or another core.
- You want the same app on Windows or Linux too.
Pick V2Mac if
- You want an app that looks and behaves like the rest of your Mac.
- You route by app and host, or are moving from Proxifier.
- You want some apps in a mini VM with their own server.
Moving over
V2Mac imports routing rules from v2rayN. Servers come over as a subscription URL or as share links: paste them into Add Subscription (⌘N).
One thing to know
V2Mac’s DMG is not notarized, so macOS asks you to approve the first launch. Homebrew skips that prompt.
