V2Mac 0.6.0
What’s changed
- Use V2Mac in Persian, Chinese or Russian
- Settings → General → Language: Persian, Simplified Chinese, Russian, English or the system’s language
- Persian lays the app out right to left
- Notifications, error messages, Siri phrases and the Control Center switch are translated too
- Connect and disconnect from Control Center and the menu bar with a V2Mac switch
- Add the V2Mac switch from Control Center → Edit Controls; it shows the V2Mac glyph
- Turning it on starts V2Mac when it is not running
- New Shortcuts and Siri actions: Set System Proxy and Set Kill Switch
- Back up and restore subscriptions, servers and settings as a .v2m file
- Settings → General → Backup: Export Backup… and Restore Backup…
- A restore adds what is missing and keeps what you have; open a .v2m file in Finder to restore it too
- Passwords for the proxy and the administrator account stay out of the backup
- Switch servers automatically when the delay is high or the download is slow
- Settings → Connection → Switch conditions, both off by default
- Delay: switch after two checks in a row answer slower than the limit you set
- Speed: switch when the download stays under the speed you set for that many minutes while in use
- Set the system proxy from V2Mac and add a kill switch
- Turn on the system proxy in the menu bar, the connection bar or Settings → Proxy
- A dot beside it shows whether the system proxy is V2Mac (green), something else (red) or not set (grey)
- The kill switch (Settings → Connection) blocks all traffic outside the connection until you disconnect
- The kill switch stays on through dropped connections and when V2Mac stops unexpectedly
- Save your administrator password in Settings → General to stop the password prompt on each launch
- The local proxy’s username and password are optional and the password is kept in the keychain
Install
With Homebrew: brew install --cask lordversa/tap/v2mac (or brew upgrade --cask v2mac).
Or download V2Mac-0.6.0.dmg, check it against the .sha256 file, and follow the first-launch steps in the README (the app is ad-hoc signed).
